Obituary for Rosemarie Elizabeth Bartell (DeFrancis)

Rose was born on January 19, 1937 in Newark, New Jersey to her parents, Victoria and Dominick DeFrancis. She married John (Jack) David Bartell of Newark, NJ in 1953. The Bartell’s lived in Newark until 1966 when they purchased their home and moved to Kendall Park, New Jersey. Jack owned the family Air Conditioning business, John Bartell & Sons and Rose worked in retail (Great Eastern) and customer service (Mid East Aluminum). After Jack’s passing, Rose moved to Jacksonville, FL for some time and then moved to Richlands, NC in 1990 where she worked for Stanadyne.

Rose retired from Stanadyne in 2003. Rose dedicated her remaining time to keeping in touch with her many family and friends who all loved her dearly. Most would call her the Facebook Queen who commented on every single post anyone ever wrote and would remember her first words when you called were always, “I love you!.”
Rosemarie (Rose) DeFrancis Bartell passed at home on November 19, 2020. She was 83. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, John; her sisters, Mary Rochelle and Gertrude Orme; her brothers Anthony, Frank, and John DeFrancis; and her daughters, Catherine Berry of Jacksonville, NC who was also a long time employee of Stanadyne; and her daughter Judy Bartell of Jacksonville, FL and Richlands, NC.

Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law, Leonard & Margaret Black of Clermont, FL; her son & daughter-in-law, John & Brenda Bartell of Hampton, VA; her daughter, Valeria Bartell of Richlands, NC; her daughter, Mary Bartell of Orange Park, FL; her son, Daniel Bartell of Jacksonville, FL; her sister & brother-in-law JR & Jeanette Batchelor of Richlands, NC; her brother & sister-in-law, Donny & Nenia DeFrancis of Wallace, NC; and nine grandchildren Kim Ventura, Adam Parolise, Patti Berry, Jennifer Simmons, Nicholas Bartell, Rosey Silva, Shavon Botsford, Ian Botsford, and Ryan Hamaguchi and nine great-grandchildren Lucas Ventura, Kason and Demi Parolise, Ebony Castro, Sabrina Simmons, John & Scott Silva, and Sophia & Luna Malanga.
Rose will be cremated in Jacksonville, Florida. Due to current travel restrictions, a small family service will take place in Richlands, NC supported by a Zoom conference; date & time TBD with details posted on Facebook by Valeria Bartell and other family members.
